MARTIN PETKOV, PT, MPT
Physical Therapist
Martin completed his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with honors at York University. His interest in athletic therapy, exercise physiology, and many years of competitive soccer sparked a passion for rehabilitation. Years later, he earned his Master’s of Physical Therapy at the University of Western Ontario.
Martin has been practicing outpatient orthopaedic Physical Therapy for over five years, having worked with multiple orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine doctors, and treated a large variety of patients. He is experienced in ACL rehabilitation, enjoys working with athletes and active adults, emphasizing return to sport and injury prevention. Martin has also worked in the home care setting for over two years, treating geriatrics, populations with limited mobility, complex histories, and diverse neurological conditions.
Martin employs a patient-centered approach to care with an emphasis in manual therapy to restore joint mobility, decrease muscle tone, and optimize function. His background in personal training helps him identify faulty movement patterns and develop appropriate exercise programs to facilitate optimal biomechanics. Through his continuing education, Martin is certified in dry needling, acupuncture, and kinesio taping. Martin is passionate about the care of his patients, guiding them to achieve their goals and watching them return to the activities they enjoy.
In his spare time, Martin enjoys the outdoors, and you will likely find him kicking the ball around with his four little boys or turning wrenches in the garage.
