Robert G. Jones, M.D.
Dr. Robert G. Jones, formerly of Impact Orthopaedics, is an orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopy, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, and joint reconstruction. A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Dr. Jones graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, where he was a varsity track and field letterman.
Dr. Jones made the decision to pursue medicine after a pole-vaulting accident abruptly ended his athletic career. He completed his medical school education at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Having practiced orthopaedics and sports medicine in Raleigh for more than 20 years, Dr. Jones has served as the orthopaedic team physician for many high schools, colleges, and professional sporting organizations. Among them are Saint David’s School, Southeast Raleigh High School, Leesville Road High School, Campbell University, Carolina Cobras Arena Football, the North Carolina Ballet, and USA Baseball.
Currently, Dr. Jones serves as medical director of international and national track and field meets and is on the board of directors for Build the Village, Neighbor Health Center, National Scholastic Athletic Foundation and the Young Life Committee. He volunteers his medical services at the Raleigh Rescue Mission, the Salvation Army, and Urban Ministries of Wake County and has served as camp physician for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Camp Sea Gull, and Young Life.
Dr. Jones has completed numerous triathlons and marathons and is a two-time finisher of the Boston Marathon. He is actively involved in the triathlon and running community, and volunteers his expertise as a lecturer on training as well as the treatment and prevention of injuries.
